If we have not met, my name is Ellie Hill and I am an attorney, community advocate, and the Executive Director of the Poverello Center. I humbly seek your support to run as the Democratic candidate for the Montana State House of Representatives in House District 94.
Your state senator, Ron Erickson, had these kind words of encouragement for my effort to serve you: “Ellie Hill will bring a rare combination of energy, intelligence, and compassion to the legislature. She has my unqualified support.” I’ve showed up on your doorstep because I want to earn your support too.
I am a lifelong Rocky Mountain Westerner, the daughter of a union worker, sister of a smokejumper, wife of a enthusiastic fly fisherman, and attorney for the poor. I have been the Executive Director of the Poverello Center, the State of Montana’s largest homeless service provider, for four years. Through its four facilities, the organization provides housing, nutrition, and health care to thousands of Montanans each year. Under my leadership, the Poverello has been recognized as integral to our community’s safety net, and I have been privileged to guide the organization. I thrive on fighting for the underdog.
Missoula deserves legislators who will unwaveringly support progressive values like an economy that works for workers, education that enriches children’s lives and equips them for the future, stewardship of Montana’s constitutional guarantee of a clean and healthful environment, and equality for all. People yearn for political leaders who are real, who are willing to speak their mind, and who will have conviction to do what they think is right. I would be honored to continue my service to the people of Missoula as their legislator.
